Mike

While in reality, Mike Perschon teaches introductory English courses at Grant MacEwan University, he likes to pretend that he's teaching introductory courses on film and speculative literature, which is how students end up reading H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds and then watching the Spielberg film version instead of looking at Othello and then not watching a film version (because plays are clearly meant to be read not watched).  Mike holds an M.A. and PhD. in Comparative Literature from the University of Alberta; his MA thesis was on Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth and his PhD. dissertation was on steampunk literature, so consequently he can't get a "real" academic job in one of the usual areas of specialization, like Modernist or Victorianist. When he's not shaping the minds of future movers and shakers, he will be a) playing Minecraft with his son, b) colouring Disney princesses with his daughter, c) watching Game of Thrones or Drop Dead Diva with his wife, or d) rolling 20s with his group of aging gamers.
